A question we are asked all the time is ‘why are you called Seven Mile?’ Most of you will know that both Jake and I adore Cornwall, in fact some would say adore is a huge understatement! We dream of living there full time but for the moment we have to make do with naming our company after the seven mile stretch of coastline between Fowey and Talland and visiting at every possible opportunity!
We were lucky enough to visit recently to celebrate Jake’s birthday and we wanted to share with you some of the reasons why we love it so much…
- The village of Polperro: This tiny fishing village has somehow survived the ravages of time and tide and today, still looks and feels completely idyllic. Our family has been holidaying here since before we were born and I have never met anyone who didn’t love it – go and visit, you will thank us!
- The walk from Looe to Polperro via Talland: This 5 mile section of the South West Coastal Path is STUNNING! We love to walk it in this direction because it is just long enough to work up a hearty appetite, which can only be satisfied by lunch at the Blue Peter! Make sure you stop in at the Smuggler’s Café in Talland Bay too, during the summer months, for a drink with one hell of a view.
- The Blue Peter: I can’t begin to tell you how much we love this place. Famously the last pub before France, there is a huge table on the first floor, which looks out to sea and to the waves crashing over the harbour wall and this is your backdrop to a delicious meal and a much deserved pint of Cornish Scrumpy. If that wasn’t enough, they frequently have fantastic local musicians playing. We have celebrated so many memorable occasions in this cosy little spot that it feels like our second home.
