The beautiful mum-to-be looked radiant as we celebrated the imminent birth of baby Mason. Jeniene and I have been friends since we were 12 years old so this was a really special occasion for us to prepare for.
As we didn’t know the sex of the baby, we needed a neutral theme; little did we know that anything to do with babies only ever comes in blue or pink! So we improvised and chose a slightly unconventional colour scheme but one close to Jeniene’s heart: Claret and Blue (the Aston Villa colours for those not into football!).
It was to be a simple affair so some home made bunting, matching cupcakes and a ‘nappy cake’ centrepiece were the order of the day. A nappy cake (or ‘diaper cake’ as they are called in the States where they originated) is designed to form a centrepiece of the baby shower while also gifting the mum-to-be with a stash of essentials such as nappies, baby powder, baby wipes, a bottle, dummies and a cuddly toy. We managed to fill this one with goodies and keep it in the claret and blue theme!
Jake’s cupcakes were incredible and disappeared in a split second – I’m not even sure anyone noticed the claret and blue icing or specially spray painted cake stands!
