Imagine my joy when I spotted this sign on Saturday afternoon while exploring Cowes for the first time!
I wasn’t disappointed come Sunday afternoon when I finally entered Corries Cabin. The staff were incredibly friendly and more than happy to chat about their recipe for gluten free batter and how demand for gluten free food is really increasing. They also didn’t hold back when ridiculing my order for battered cod roe, which I just couldn’t resist – I used to love it as a kid but obviously haven’t had it for many years – and it was just as good as I remembered, what a treat!
I didn’t spend all of Saturday completely preoccupied with gluten free fish and chips - I distracted myself with a goat cheese and aubergine salad, rock salt anchovies and a glass of Viognier at The Coast Bar & Dining Room. It was completely delicious and the décor and style of the restaurant was just wonderful – really in keeping with its seaside locale.
If you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in Cowes on a sunny afternoon, I would heartily recommend both of these amazing eateries.
